Just to give you a little background of how we "hooked" up...
It all started in third grade. We had your standard sight and hearing tests in the gymnasium. I passed the hearing test with flying colors, but when I was told to cover one eye and read the chart on the wall, I couldn't. It was all a blur, even the big E was unreadable. Well, after a phone call to my mom and a seating change to the front of the class (I thought it was normal not to be able to read the chalkboard), I was told I need to "see" an eye doctor asap.
The only time I can remember my mom teasing me was right before heading to my appt. She said I was going to get a shot in my eye! You may not remember telling me that mom, but I sure do :)
Turns out my eye sight was bad, real bad, and it was only going to get worse. The best part though was I got to pick out my very own glasses.
I chose these bad boys

Cute huh? I liked them because the top of the rims were blue and the bottom pink. I remember on the drive home I could see the individual leaves on the trees. Amazing thing sight is.
Well, by the time I got to sixth grade I decided my blue and pink glasses were a little out of date, and not covering enough of my face, so another trip to the eye doc, and Wham, check me out.

Yep, I always wondered why the boys were(n't) lining up to ask me out.
Once I reached junior high I decided to part ways with my big blues, and go for a more natural look.

During my teen years I decided to give contacts a try.
Now is an appropriate time to tell my cousin Lindsey’s favorite story about me.
Every summer my grandparents would host a family reunion at their lake cabin in Northern Idaho. All us grandkids would sleep upstairs in a big ‘ol room with a window overlooking the lake. Beautiful sight. One morning I woke up and instead of fumbling for my glasses to see the clock, I didn’t have too. I could see the numbers perfectly, crisply. “A miracle” I thought. I ran to the window, I could see the lake, the boat, the beach. Individually. Not a big blur. I started jumping up and down exclaiming that a miracle had occurred. I could see!! My eyes had repaired themselves overnight. I ran to the bathroom to get a better look at my eyes. My phenomenal eyes.
Then, horror. Twasn’t true.
The next thing Lindsey heard is “Crap, I slept with my contacts in!”
Here we are during my college years. Most mornings these glasses were paired with some sweet bed-head.

Well, it's been almost a decade. These glasses have seen me through college, mission, marriage, two kids. Good times. Good memories.

Mike told me it was time to part ways. (I still don't know why)
My instructions were to come back from my eye appt with some sassy new specs. Sassy being the key word here.
This is my sassy photoshoot.
I love you glasses. Thanks for being my friend. I would probably be living in a cave with bats (learning their ways) if it weren't for you.
And now my favorite quote about vision:
I'm a deer hunter. I go all the time with my Dad. One thing about deer: they have very good vision. One thing about me: I am better at hiding than they are at vision.

Matt really like the big glasses, he asked me to scroll back up so he could see them again. Oh how I miss the bed hair.

fun post! I love the new frames- I have some very similar ones which, sadly, rarely get to see the light of day :)
PS I can't believe your mom and the shot thing! my mom told us whenever her special Jerusalem bells rang it meant the gypsies were coming to get us and we needed to hide- I guess she needed a break
I love it! Those glasses fit the "sassy" bill, good job picking them out. Do you still have the nice giant ones? I think you should bring those out every now and then. You know, for special occasions.
Jill,
Great post! I didn't know you knew Warren Jeffs in your youth. You look great. We're excited to see you guys soon.
