Trip to Nauvoo

We had a fun couple of days visiting my parents on their mission in Nauvoo!

The 2 hr flight and 5 hr car ride with 2 small children wasn't exactly "fun", but we survived and were so happy to finally arrive at my parents house :)

The next day we drove a half hour to Carthage. This is where the prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were martyred.

We went on wagon ride around Nauvoo. Abby was a little timid to pet the horses.

We visited the post office, this is Mike and Abby demonstrating how to carry buckets of water.

My mom was serving at Lands and Records that day so we paid her a visit. We were able to look up one of Mike's ancestors - Anson Call, and see where he lived back in the day.

This is where he lived. Right across the street is Brigham Youngs home, which is still standing today!

We went on a wagon ride - the oxen's names are Hank and Homer

We walked down the trail of hope - the route the pioneers took when they left their homes to cross the mississippi river.

If the water wasn't frozen they would cross on these barges made to hold your team and wagon.

Abby loved walking through these gardens. There are a bunch of statues about the role of women.

This is a big 'ol house on the banks of the mississippi. Rumor has it that this guy built this place for his mistress....huh...

We went to the play Rendevous in Old Nauvoo, and saw my parents perform. Abby got to wear this fancy bonnet afterwards.

We didn't have a pack n'play so we put the bed and dresser next together in the corner and made Owen a nice little crib :)

Saying goodbye to Grandpa and Grandma, we had so much fun!
